Moving festively along, guests will be treated to Christmas carols whilst sipping champagne followed by a sumptuous candlelit dinner. Residents can then retire to one of the 50 luxurious bedrooms and suites or watch a Christmas movie showing in the Blake Screening Suite, throughout the three-day program (full screening details will be available on arrival). Guests are free to attend Christmas Eve/Day service in one of the many churches located nearby.

After a great night’s sleep you will be rejuvenated and ready for the Christmas Day program. Share gifts over a leisurely breakfast in bed or with family in the River Room Restaurant. The beautiful Ffrench Room with it’s open log fires, will host a pre-lunch drinks reception followed by a delicious Christmas Day Feast in the River Room Restaurant. Sit-back and relax after lunch in a cosy armchair by the open log fires or grab your winter woollies and take a stroll around the beautiful estate. Later that afternoon, Santa Claus will pay a visit to all the children, followed by Children’s tea. Adults are invited to enjoy a light fork supper from 7-9pm that evening.

Take breakfast at leisure on St Stephen’s Day and afterwards you are free to join the festive fun in Galway city, explore glorious Connemara or simply enjoy a round or two of golf on the estate. The annual St. Stephen’s Day Treasure Hunt will take place on hotel grounds from 10am-4pm and later that afternoon the popular Christmas Table Quiz will test your general knowledge (not a Christmas cracker question in sight, we promise!). Dinner will be served for children at 6pm and from 7-9pm for adults that evening.   Guests will enjoy a leisurely breakfast on departure day with late checkout on December 27th. The Pullman Restaurant on the grounds of Glenlo Abbey Hotel is one of Ireland’s truly unique dining experiences. Comprising of two dining carriages, one of which is called Leona, dates back to 1927 and was part of the original Orient Express and carried VIP’s all over Europe and the UK during its lifespan. 1965 saw Leona’s final journey when she was used as part of Winston Churchill’s funeral cortege.   After this event, Leona with other carriages played a staring role in the classic movie, “Murder on the Orient Express”, which featured greats such as Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall and Sean Connery.   Opened in May 1998, the Pullman Restaurant aboard the Orient Express enjoys fabulous views of Lough Corrib and ironically 300 metres away from the old track bed of the now lost Galway-Clifden railway line.
